New pedestrian bridge increases safety for community
On Friday, 4 May the Pennant Hills Pedestrian Bridge was officially opened to the North Parramatta and Oatlands Community by the Hon. Melinda Jane Pavey, the Minister for Roads, Maritime and Freight and Geoff Lee, the Member for Parramatta.
The project was funded by the NSW Government to provide a safe crossing over Pennant Hills road for local students, community members and cyclists by separating pedestrians from a busy main road and providing a safer, accessible crossing for people with limited mobility.
The 50 tonne steel bridge structure, spanning 25 metres was constructed off-site and lifted into position in one shift, allowing the team to minimise traffic disruptions and reduce the impact on the community.
