Our very own DM Roads team working in Goldfields Esperance Region have recently been acknowledge for their response to the bushfires burning in the Norseman area over the Christmas break. The Norseman fires resulted in the closure of two highways and local government roads during peak time for holiday traffic. The fires caused major disruptions to the east and west freight travelling in and out of the State.

DM Roads staff and subcontractors collectively worked more than 8000 hours to manage traffic surrounding the bushfire ravaged areas. Our staff also provided support to the Main Roads Crisis Management Team and assisted in the set-up road side messaging to ensure road travellers were kept informed.

It has been estimated that 535,000 hectares of natural vegetation and woodland were burnt during the Norseman fires. Despite this devastating loss, the contributions of our staff ensured that no loss of life resulted from the fires and damage to surrounding properties was minimal.

Main Roads Western Australia have acknowledged the efforts of the DM Roads Goldfields Esperance crew with a Certificate of Appreciation for their support during this time.

At DM Roads we are committed to providing continuous support to all communities. We are proud of all our people across Australia who have assisted during this bushfire season.
